Eight months after the project kick-off and with two learning activities already completed, the group met in Greece for a mid-term evaluation
The second transnational meeting of the Cheritage project took place in Athens on 26 June 2019. It was organized by the local partner, EILD – European Institute for Local Development. The Institute is an independent NGO supporting regional development activities and transnational collaboration in several fields. It implements educational programs and capacity building, as well as awareness-raising campaigns and events on key issues for the European regional development.
For the group, this meeting was an occasion to take stock of the activities carried out so far and to coordinate about the ones to follow. After the kick-off in Romania, the project has in fact completed two of the four learning activities planned. In February 2019, the group has worked on research and documentation in Czech Republic. Whereas, in May 2019, they explored the creation of digital platforms in Malta. Building on the work of the previous months, in Athens, each national team presented their final list of cultural items in the form of draft flashcards. These materials will be used as a basis both for the online gallery and the visual portfolio that the group will implement in the next months.
The gathering in Athens also offered the chance to visit one of the most outstanding public spaces of the city: the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre (in the picture). The pluri-awarded complex, designed by Renzo Piano, hosts the Greek National Opera, the National Library of Greece and 21 hectares of the Stavros Niarchos Park. The Centre overlooks the Faliro Delta waterfront and from its rooftop visitors can enjoy an incredible 360° view all over the city.
